Join Our Research Team at the Dementia Research Centre (Singapore)
The Dementia Research Centre (Singapore) [DRCS], part of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our multi-disciplinary team in advancing cutting-edge research. DRCS is dedicated to exploring cognitive impairment, dementia, and neurodegenerative disorders in the Asian context, with ongoing projects that focus on neuroimaging, retinal imaging, neuropsychology, engineering, and digital health interventions.

We are currently hiring for the following positions:

Research Assistant/Research Associate/Research Fellow

Fields of Interest:

  • Neuropsychology
  • Psychology
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Neuroimaging
  • Retinal Imaging

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research Support: Assist in conducting clinical and laboratory-based research within neuropsychology, engineering, neuroimaging, and retinal imaging fields.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Perform literature reviews, collect data, and conduct statistical analyses using software such as SPSS, R, or Python.
  • Neuropsychological Assessments: Implement and refine neuropsychological assessments and enhance psychometric tools for improved diagnostic capabilities.
  • Participant Recruitment & Engagement: Coordinate clinical recruitment efforts and manage participant visits across multiple studies.
  • Digital Interventions & Imaging: Develop digital cognitive interventions, and contribute to neuroimaging and retinal imaging analyses using state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Collaborative Research: Work with multidisciplinary teams and external collaborators on large-scale research projects such as BIOCIS, CHOICE, SINGER, and AMBITION.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s or PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields. Candidates with clinical experience or medical degrees are also welcome.
  • Experience:
    • For Research Assistant/Associate: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in research, clinical settings, or data analysis.
    • For Research Fellow: PhD with demonstrated experience in research and publications.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in research methodologies and statistical software (SPSS, R, or Python).
    • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
    • Experience in neuropsychological assessments, imaging, or digital intervention development is a plus.

Undergraduate Research Intern

Duration: Minimum 3 to 6 months

Commitment: Minimum 12 hours per week on weekdays

Learning Opportunities:

  • Practical training on neuropsychological assessments.
  • Neuroimaging interpretation.
  • Blood processing skills in the wet lab.
  • Clinical interview skills and interaction with research participants.
  • Potential to conduct your own research project that involves data analysis and writing manuscripts.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline).
  • Strong interest in research and desire to contribute to advancing knowledge in the field of dementia.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate data collection and record keeping.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and statistic tools (e.g., SPSS, R) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as you will be working with participants.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Prior experience or coursework related to research methods, data analysis or laboratory techniques is preferred but not required.
